The RCIA is a process that involves the whole parish community

When a person seeks to join the Catholic Church he or she does not only become a member of the universal Church, but enters into a specific faith community. It is important for the candidate to come to know the activities of outreach and social action it is engaged in. Thus, it is the role of the entire parish to be a witness for the candidate so that he or she can experience what it means to be a member of the Body of Christ, and part of a community based in the message and love of the Lord. The community also witnesses to the growing faith of the candidates as it takes part in those public ceremonies which celebrate the completion of major passages in the journey towards initiation. In doing so, the community is called to reflect upon how faithful it has been to the teachings of Christ, and to experience ongoing conversion and deepening of its faith-life as it takes on the task of “making new Catholics
